First time there. The hot porchetta sandwich was ridic good. Stuffed with meat. We also spilt a cheese pizza and fries between the three of us. Also very good. Drinks were generous. Jessica, our waitress was attentive and super pleasant. The manager came by multiple time to check on us. Definitely will be back.

Scittino's Italian Marketplace is a combination of a market and an Italian restaurant. We were seated immediately because we arrived before the dinner crowd. The venue is neat and clean with an Italian vibe. The hostess and the servers were friendly and efficient. My wife had the meatballs in marinara sauce appetizer as her main course. It was enough to satisfy her. Her dinner came with a freshly baked baguette. There was olive oil and wine vinegar on the table centerpiece that could be used with the bread. I had an eggplant Parmesan sub, also on a freshly baked baguette. It didn't have quite as much eggplant, melted Parmesan cheese, or marinara sauce as I'm accustomed to having in other Italian venues, but it was delicious. In fact, I couldn't even finish it. I did request extra marinara sauce which they provided. I'll have the rest at supper tomorrow evening. There's plenty of free parking in the parking lot out front, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Since they serve meatballs, spaghetti, and pizza, I'm sure most kids will enjoy eating here. I recommend Scittino's Italian Marketplace.

Explore Baltimore - Scittino's Italian Marketplace "I was greeted and offer two recommendations: Italian Sub, Chicken Parmesan Sub" Family-owned and operated for over 50 years, Scittino's Italian Marketplace has been serving authentic Italian cuisine in Catonsville since 1973. Francesco (Frank) Schittino owned and operated the town butcher shop in Lascari, Sicily until economic uncertainty in the region led him to sell everything and move to the States in pursuit of the American Dream. Frank and his wife Tina immigrated to America with their three children, Lenny, Sal and Josie, in 1958. Shortly after arriving in the States, their 4 th child, Frankie was born. After working for many years for a wholesale meat packing company in the US, Frank came upon an opportunity to purchase a small deli in Catonsville known at the time as Sorrento's. Within a few years, Frank, Tina, and their oldest son, Lenny, had grown the small deli into a thriving Italian Market/Grocery/Butcher shop, added a commercial kitchen, and began serving many of the family's home recipes to the Catonsville community. The business continued to grow under Lenny's leadership until he and Frank passed away in 1985/86. For the next 35 years, Scittino's 2nd generation, Sal and Josie, continued building on the family legacy, adding a full catering menu, and solidifying Scittino's as a pillar in the Catonsville community. In 2020, after supporting the family business for over 50 years, Sal and Josie retired. Lenny's oldest son, Franco, took over the reins as the 3 rd generation of Schittino's to carry the torch for Scittino's Italian Marketplace. Under Franco's leadership, the business has expanded to a new location on Falls Rd., in Baltimore, MD, adding new wrinkles such as Italian wines, additional seating, and more of the family's generations-old dinner entrees.

My first time here. I'm picky about Italian food, because I am lucky to have had incredible Italian American food & authentic Italian food while living in NYC & traveling. Most Italian places I've gone to in the US tend to be mediocre to horrible. The tolerable being food I can be easily replicated at home. There are sometimes exceptions, Scittino's is one of these! One thing that makes for incredible food whether American or authentic Italian is that the food is a labor love, & desire to serve you the best food that they can. Always opting for quality fresh ingredients, not settling/cutting corners, knowing that small details make all the difference in the final product. Scittino's does this. It was tough deciding from the menu everything sounded great. I love eggplant parmigiana but was hesitant to order it. I only like when it's made well. There is no middle ground/mediocre with eggplant parmigiana. It's either excellent or disgusting. I ended up choosing the Salutare Peppe from the Old Country Artisan menu. It had marinated eggplant, which can be more forgiving in how it's made than eggplant parm. My feeling is if the marinated eggplant was good the parm version would be worth trying in the future. Holy camoley! The Salutare Peppe is the best Italian food I've tasted in at least a decade. The bread is perfect, the combination of ingredients is well thought out & perfectly balanced. The marinated vegetables had distinct flavor, the dressing had the distinct taste of olive oil & balsamic, the unique sweet/tart flavor of balsamic, the subtle notes of the herbs are all there. This is the kind of food that can cause you to make happy eating sounds, sing good food songs & break out in good food dance moves. I will definitely be back! I will try the eggplant parmigiana next time. I will also heartily recommend this place to anyone I know in the Baltimore. I will also recommend it anyone I don't know but I hear that they are looking for good Italian food! I didn't think about taking a pic of my food in the restaurant. This is the half that I brought home. I will say that this place isn't cheap, it may not fit everyone's budget. I couldn't afford the steak & seafood options personally. However, they do have affordable options to treat yourself with. Even though they aren't cheap, the quality is so good that I feel like I got my moneys worth. The service was also excellent! Everyone was warm, friendly, yet professional.
